St. Patrick's Day Fun!!

Strange things were happening in room 15 about a week before St. Patrick's Day.  Things were getting moved around, and things were getting messed up.  We couldn't figure out what was going on...until I remembered last year that a wee little fellow.. yes, a leprechaun.. had been in a K-buddies room and had caused the same mischief.  We set our plan into action.  Find out about leprechauns and make a trap to catch the wee mischief maker!

We made our traps!

Could that be footprints and leprechaun dust?

We read The Night Before St. Patrick's Day and Leprechaun On The Loose
Two great stories to create a shamrock venn diagram to compare the two stories.

We wrote about being a leprechaun and where we would hide our pot of gold!

We ended St. Patricks Day with shamrock shakes and green cake balls....
another fun day in K-land.

Reading and Writing Across America.....

So many good Dr.Seuss Books....so many good writing prompts!

The first book we read was I Wish I Had Duck Feet

A story about a young boy who wishes he had duck feet also wishes that he could have deer horns, a long tail, and several other physical features that would make him unique and special.

and we wrote what we wished we had.....

I had several want dog teeth......so they could eat meat........

The next book we read was

A story about a young boy who gets a fish (named Otto) and the consequences of not following the pet shop owners directions on how to feed the fish..the boy in turn feeds his fish to much and Otto outgrows container after container...

and we wrote were we would put Otto......

My favorite activity is this listening activity.  By listening to my directions we draw the
Cat in the Hat.

I love this....because when we get to the red bow and whiskers they realize who they are drawing....and amazing enough most of them really look like the Cat in the Hat!!!!

Read Across America

Gotta love Dr. Seuss and the fun week of activities to go along with his birthday.  Monday we got to wear hats....Tuesday we got to dress up as our favorite storybook character....Can you guess who I am?
Olivia and her wonderful group of kids!
We have read two Dr. Seuss books and did some writing activities....those will follow, but boy did I have fun today!
Tomorrow is pajama day, pics to follow.

President's Day

How I missed my blog!!!  A lot of snow days behind us and a camera I keep forgetting to get to school, I finally can post something.....President's Day or week as was the case in this classroom.  We started the week learning about George Washington.  Abraham Lincoln followed.

Got together with our K-buddies in Mrs. Renfro's class, she read Mr. Lincoln's Whiskers and we graphed rather we liked Lincoln with or without whiskers.  We then made these adorable Lincoln log cabins....be prepared for STICKY!!!

We had a great time....

Back at our classroom we graphed whether we liked George Washington or Abraham Lincoln.
Lincoln won!  I wonder if it has anything to do with the log cabins the day before.  The template is used for both, one way it is Washington, the other way it's Lincoln.  Aren't they just the cutest.  The template was given to me by Mrs. Renfro, not sure where she got it....but I LOVE IT!!   Gotta love those little Lincoln's and Washington isn't bad either.
